Good afternoon, My name is David Peters. My father Doyle Burian Peters was born in Texas in 1924 in the big thicket area, and was deceased in 2002. His mothers maiden name was ‘Hanley’. I think I spelled dads middle name correctly; he didn’t use it often. I did get the initial correct, it is a ‘B’. Anyway: Like most WWII veterans, he never said more than a few things. He was in Patton’s army, originally in ordinance but would up a tank mechanic. One of the few things he ever told was how he and some guys had not been to Paris, and spent about a week there. This was when Patton liberated a Mercedes (600?), and it needed a part. Which they found in one afternoon, but wanted more Paris time, so kept needing just a bit more time. I think his rank was PFC.
THE QUESTION: I am pretty sure I can find his social security number, if he used that in WWII. MAYBE his service number, maybe not. Could you possibly tell me if I have enough to be able to find his service records? If not, what more do I need? Thanks, David Peters, 2817 Louisiana Ave S, St Louis Park, MN 55426, phn: 952-922-3557, email: dbp5458@live.com

I am trying to find out about my paternal grandfather’s accident as a teenager. He lost his right leg while working for Tate & Lyle at Silver town, east London. He was treated in Poplar Hospital but I can find no record. I know he received a lifetime pension from them. Any help would be much appreciated. His name was George Samuel Rowland DOB 4/3/1893.
